- The most popular and shortest of the three routes
- Distance Approximately: 5.5 miles (8.5 km), Height Gain: 910 m (2985 ft)
- Summit: 978 m (3208 ft)
- Approx 5-6 hours return journey
- 1 day’s guiding by an experienced Mountain Leader
From Seathwaite
- The route is c.a. 9.0 miles (12.5km) long and involves 3340 ft (1020 metres) of ascent.
- Route is also called the Corridor Route
- Summit: 978 m (3208 ft)
- Approx 6-7 hours return journey
- 1 day’s guiding by an experienced Mountain Leader
From Langdale
- The longest of the three routes
- The route is 12 miles (19km) long and involves 3500 ft (1050 metres) of ascent
- Summit: 978 m (3208 ft)
- Approx 9-12 hours return journey
- 1 day’s guiding by an experienced Mountain Leader
Challenge Details
Each of the three Scafell routes will start in either: Wasdale, Seathwaite or Langdale. All routes are challenging and will require a good level on fitness.

- Travel to the start and finish points of the trip
- Meals and beverages.
- Personal Insurance (for cancellation, accident, health, emergency evacuation and loss, theft of or damage to baggage and personal effects)
- Accommodation (advise can be provided on local accommodation if required)
Itinerary
- Meet at the agreed location depending on route being taken at an agreed time, typically this is no later than 9am
- Route, weather and safety briefing
- Kit check and any medical issues that the guides should be aware of (all medical issues should have been advised at the point of booking)
- Start of the walk: Objective is to follow the agreed route. The leader may change this based on the weather or any other factor that may incur unacceptable risk.
- Arrival back at the start location – quick debrief on the day

This is a tiring challenge. We recommend the minimum age for this trip to be 16 years old. Any U18s will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Preparation and a good level of fitness is essential for success
